Blurry vision causes & treatment in Bellflower
Whether things look fuzzy far away, up close, or it came on suddenly, blurry vision is your eyes asking for attention. Here’s what may be behind it.

Blur is a symptom, not a diagnosis
Most blurry vision comes from a prescription that has changed, which is easy to fix with updated glasses or contacts. But blur can also be a sign of dry eye, cataracts, diabetes-related changes, or, less often, a problem that needs urgent care.
The pattern matters: is it one eye or both, near or far, constant or coming and going, gradual or sudden? We’ll ask about all of it, then examine your eyes to find the cause.

Most symptom visits are billed to medical insurance, including Medicare and Medi-Cal plans. Call early in the day for the best chance at a same-day visit.
What can cause blurry vision?
Most causes are very treatable. A proper eye exam tells you which one you’re dealing with.
Changing prescription
Nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can change over time, especially in kids and teens.
Presbyopia
After about 40, the eye’s lens stiffens and close-up reading gets harder.
Dry eye
An unstable tear film causes blur that clears when you blink.
Cataracts
A clouding lens causes gradual blur, glare and faded colors.
Diabetes & blood sugar
Swings in blood sugar can blur vision; diabetes can also damage the retina.
Retina or optic nerve changes
Macular degeneration, glaucoma and other conditions can affect clarity.

- Blink often and take screen breaks (20-20-20 rule)
- Clean your glasses; smudges and scratches blur vision
- Use preservative-free artificial tears if your eyes feel dry
- Don’t drive if your vision isn’t clear
- Write down when the blur happens to share at your visit
Blurry Vision: common questions
Have a question about your symptoms? Call (562) 867-4716.
Can blurry vision fix itself?
Sometimes, as with blur from tired or dry eyes. But blur that keeps coming back or slowly worsens usually needs a new prescription or treatment.
Why is my vision blurry even with glasses?
Your prescription may have changed, your lenses may be scratched or poorly fitted, or another condition like dry eye or cataracts may be involved.
Is sudden blurry vision an emergency?
Yes, especially in one eye or with other symptoms like weakness or trouble speaking. Call 911 or go to the ER.
Can screen time cause blurry vision?
Long screen sessions can cause temporary blur from eye strain and dryness. Regular breaks and the right lenses help.
